Chapter 19: The Punisher’s Financing

In the city.

In a collapsed and abandoned area of buildings, Yu Fei and two teammates wearing hats arrived at a shadowy, sheltered spot.

With the sound of shuffling footsteps, a slender silhouette in white fitted trousers emerged from the shadow ahead.

–Are you Zhou Diao today, or Zhou Chan?–

A subtle, fragrant breeze wafted over. Yu Fei’s group stared at the strikingly beautiful face before them, involuntarily swallowing their saliva.

The woman was undeniably exquisite beyond compare. Even in men’s clothing, she exuded an irresistible allure. The three men beside Yu Fei had already run wild with their imaginations. Rumors said this was actually a pair of twin sisters sharing the codename Diao Chan.

–Have you really obtained the Class-A frequency crystal already speaking?–

The charmingly coquettish beauty lifted her chin slightly, her gaze landing on the other three.

Yu Fei opened the box in his hand, revealing a crystal inside glowing with a faint red light.

–Not bad, big brothers.– Zhou Chan’s lively eyes darted around, then added: –What about the armor?–

–The armor isn’t ours yet.–

Yu Fei closed the wooden box containing the frequency crystal and said:

–Three days remain. If the actual owner hasn’t submitted a complete report on the Class-A Crossing Ground by then, we can use this to enter it.–

Another slender figure stepped out from behind the woman.

He was entirely clad in a handsome suit of pitch-black armor, with a greatsword strapped to his back. The man spoke in a deep, gruff voice:

–You all place too much importance on so-called headquarters’ orders. In this world, what concept of home or nation even remains? Hah, don’t treat it as an unbreakable rule just because it was founded by someone famous from Earth. This is no longer Earth. Past identities—whether a star, an entrepreneur, or a spiritual leader—are nothing but fleeting illusions.–

After the man finished speaking, Zhou Chan said:

–We’ll enter tonight. We’ve already recalled several powerful personnel. Matt Chao, Lu Zhishen, and Peter Pan will all be coming. It’s just a pity about Zhang Fei.–

–No.–

Yu Fei spoke with a slightly downcast mood:

–Our people haven’t all arrived yet. The next two days are the perfect time to cultivate Moxel for the newcomers. We must secure the two hospitals in the new zone. So it’s still three days from now.–

–Mm-hmm~–

The woman’s faint, coquettish hum fell upon the three men’s ears, like a delicate little hand gently gripping and stroking their hearts—evoking urgency and setting their blood ablaze.

Suddenly, she received a faint crimson Moxel link.

{Matt Chao has left the base. Exploring the silver Grade-A overlapping zone is imminent, and there’s no room for error. You go and hold him back.}

–Ah, fine~,– Zhou Chan twisted her waist and turned around, glancing sideways at a few of them before stepping into the shadow of the building.

The fragrant breeze dissipated. The intangible aura of temptation faded with it.

–That woman, really…–

–Shh.– Yu Fei raised a finger. –She hasn’t gone far. Don’t provoke her.–

Suddenly, a mental image transmission was relayed to them, leaving them stunned on the spot.

–What? That monster’s financing!–

A voice squeezed out from one of their throats, laced with disbelief.

Yu Fei stared at the connected image in astonishment.

–It wants to eliminate Yang Zicang!–

……

Luo Xin, with his well-proportioned and tall build, was watching a newcomer emerge from the now-ruined clinic.

–At least it’s a triangle,– someone beside him said.

Luo Xin raised a hand, signaling him to shut up.

–What ability does it have?–

–It, it is…– The man stammered awkwardly.

Seeing the predatory look in Luo Xin’s companion’s eyes, the young man quickly blurted out: –It’s double-rate infusion, allowing the storage of liquid twice the volume of blood inside the body.–

The two let out disappointed sighs.

–That’s still fine, at least with you, we don’t have to carry so much water when we go out.–

–But, it seems there’s also an attached ability.–

Luo Xin looked up: –What is it?–

He never expected this triangular Moxel to possess two abilities—a probability that occurs in only one out of forty or fifty people.

–It’s… being able to aggregate low-concentration glucose in water, restoring mental clarity and replenishing physical strength.–

The person beside Luo Xin gritted their teeth and shot a glare at the clinic.

In the air before them, a thin, twisted white line like a strand of hair extended and curled.

–Ah, Captain Luo Xin, did you receive this?–

–I’m talking to someone else, what’s wrong?–

This team member quickly urged Luo Xin to sever the mental link and accept the Moxel’s financing scene.

After Luo Xin followed the instructions, his expression drastically changed.

In the sensory scene, a figure was squatting on the edge of a large metallic pipe that extended like an abyssal wall.

Around them, in a third-person perspective, were countless rat monsters crazily screeching upward.

–Captain, with all these rat monsters, how did that guy get over there?–

–It’s him!– Luo Xin recognized Yang Zicang with just one glance.

As the local boss of this area, Luo Xin naturally knew about the pipes above.

But because the rat monsters would crazily attack anyone who reached there, he had never had a chance to go up.

Yet at this moment, this guy had not only already infiltrated the monster nest but had also, amidst the siege of hundreds or even thousands of monsters, reached an otherwise inaccessible zone.

But that wasn’t what truly startled him.

What stunned him was that the perspective host in his sensory imagery was a rat monster standing upright on its hind legs.

This monster not only stood like a human but also wielded an icy, gleaming silver lance with its steel claws, while a shimmering energy shield formed by a force field floated before it.

Was the monster actually engaging in Moxel financing? Such a thing was utterly unheard of.

–I bear the commission of the Trial Council, within the bounds of the trajectory, to eliminate the weaklings and clear hidden dangers.–

The ratman Punisher raised its left claw, unsheathing razor-sharp fingernails four centimeters long, pointing upward at the figure of Yang Zicang.

–To those who InvestChronos and reach 500 N in me shall be granted the complete Chronos of all who fall here in the following quarter-hour, regardless of any offset.–

The crowd erupted in uproar. Even the consumed Chronos could be distributed to investors—this was utterly terrifying!

–The Trial Council?–

Countless voices murmured this strange title. Had Yang Zicang provoked beings of such dread?

Thud! The monster slammed the weapon in its right claw heavily onto the ground, emitting a dull, ringing tremor that snapped everyone back to their senses.

One could tell from the very sound of this weapon that it was a prized treasure of exceptional quality.

As soon as the monster finished its words, a faint gleam traced through the air from above, curving sharply at their blind spot and hurtling straight toward it.

Bang! The light radiating a golden phantom exploded against the force field, finally shattering it into pieces—while the speck of gravel, too, was pulverized.

This shows that the two are evenly matched in Chronos.

[The Sisterhood of Deities provides 500N Invest to the Executors.]

Everyone who received this visual feed registered the feedback instantly.

All those nearby had heard the name—they were a force to be reckoned with on Right Street.

The team didn’t hesitate for a moment, deciding outright to Invest the monster.

[Mountain Folk Group provides 501N Invest for Executor.]

Before the Rat Executor, two silvery rings, like simple bands, materialized. He pinched them in his grip and tilted his head toward a giant rat beside him, as large as a dog.

With a flick of his steel fingers, the silvery-white ring shot into the rat’s body. It let out a guttural cry as its frame swelled in an instant. Black mist erupted, cloaking it like armor and rapidly shaping it into a towering, muscular humanoid form.

Another ring of light was flicked by him, entering the body of another mouse.

The surrounding mice seemed to receive instructions; after screeching, they ran, rushing frantically out of the broken pipe.

These two massive ratmen stepped swiftly on the backs of the mice that were recklessly charging out of the iron pipe, launching their bodies into the air.

The onlookers were horrified—these creatures showed no regard for death, willing to rush forward to kill that man.

What on earth had he done to make these rats so enraged?

From a high vantage point, sweat dripped down Yang Zicang’s forehead as he swung his hand.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Several flickering streaks of silver-golden phantom light precisely struck the rat heads leaping out like tigers and leopards; with a series of booming sounds, the figures burst apart midair.

–Wow, not even the most basic weapons—it’s pure suppression with Chronos.–

–Is he a savage?!– the onlookers outside exclaimed.

In their eyes, Yang Zicang was using pebbles as shotguns.

If an attack uses only slightly more Chronos than the opponent, then the recipient suffers ordinary-level damage.

A conflict of that degree is akin to a standard fight back on Earth.

For instance, those trapped inside the bus and attempting to destroy the iron door would only dent it, even if they spent over thirty years of their lifespan smashing against it.

However, if the attack’s Chronos exceeds the door’s defense by twofold, it would cause severe damage.

At threefold or higher, the inflicted damage would be devastating to that part, much like how Yang Zicang’s single punch reduced Zhang Fei’s arms to ashes—he used more than three times the Chronos layered on Zhang Fei’s arms.

As for these rat monsters now, their lifespan is merely a dozen years. Even with amplification, it only doubles or triples—a few decades at best.

When facing Yang Zicang, whose attacks—like a single pebble—carry a century’s worth of Chronos, their already fragile bodies magnify the impact they receive, exploding like firecrackers.

Yet, after annihilating these silhouettes, Yang Zicang did not receive any Chronos feedback from them.

Moreover, in a scene invisible to others, wisps of black smoke rose from the dead rats, streaking up the passage, brushing past Yang Zicang, and flowing into the cave behind him.

They slipped through the gaps in the iron door whose lock had been broken, converging into the belly of the figure inside the main hall.

–To kill a monster without Chronos—is this the punishment?–

As Yang Zicang was caught in astonishment, two burly figures had already lightly landed at the entrance of the passageway.

Those rats, which had sacrificed their lives to serve as stepping stones for them, had allowed them to successfully arrive here.

–Roar!– Triangles flickered from the halo on their chests, and the figures charged forward swiftly!

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Two steel claws brushed past him by a hair’s breadth.

Yang Zicang’s eyes were wide open, his body swaying like a blade of grass in the wind amidst the attacks of these two men.

–Big Brother, hang in there!–

Liang Xi hurriedly dashed through the now empty monster lair, a look of anxiety plastered on his face.

Through their mental link, Liang Xi felt an inner sense of urgency, never expecting that Brother Yang would encounter such a dangerous crisis!

In his sensory vision, the ratman gripping the silver lance had already stepped to the broken edge of the passage, gazing up into the sky.
