A Clash of Day and Night -1
Boom!
All the train cars were instantly torn apart by the tremendous force from Sans Force’s palm, shattering into countless fragments of psionic energy that dissipated into thin air.
But none of us were harmed.
Yang Zicang rushed to the window and saw in astonishment the wreckage of another train exploding and falling through the sky below.
_-**Bloodline Ring… Twin?
He hadn’t even seen a single-ring bloodline, let alone a fifth-ring one; this was information he had never heard of.
And at that very moment, the real train they were on had already soared over ten miles into the sky and was rapidly tilting downward.
The shattered car were copies that had been instantly created by Zuo Feixian.
–Are you okay?–
Yang Zicang looked at Zuo Feixian, who had suddenly turned into a bag of bones.
From Chin Mong’s case, it was clear that using such an ability with a normal human body exacted a heavy toll. But he looked even worse than Chin Mong at that time.
Zuo Feixian forced a smile and leaned against a stone:
–Me… I’m in trouble. I need something good to eat to recover.–
Xiao Liu supported him, rubbing his gaunt chest reassuringly: –Fine, fine. As soon as we get back, I’ll cook you a good meal—braised spare ribs, sound good?–
–I… I need to eat for two meals at once.–
–Alright, alright, two bowls it is.–
The corners of Zuo Feixian’s mouth twitched. He slowly closed his eyes, his chest heaving like a bellows, and said:
–Go back. Starfarer Xingmiao said… it’s about enough… there are more of our divine stones over there.–
–Okay!–
Once they entered the shuttle between platforms, speed would be a different matter altogether.
[I will expend 1N principal to activate the Midnight Train.]
[Midnight Train’s next stop: Wang Chong Station.]
The carriage is about to begin traveling to the Near Realm.
Boom! The carriage was flipped over once again as the massive blanket descended upon it. A halo flickered in the eyes of the giant man standing on top. Coarse dust gathered on his thick fingers, coalescing into a millstone-sized giant spike.
Facing this unavoidable blow, the occupants of the carriage revealed expressions of terror and despair.
{Sigh.}
A soft sigh.
This sigh rang out for dozens of miles around.
All the divine stones in the carriage trembled simultaneously, and the mountain-force being high in the sky changed expression.
Swoosh! The spike, imbued with countless Chromosories, shot forward, while the blanket, standing upright like a sail, traced a semicircular arc as it turned its shape, fleeing at breakneck speed into the distance.
ZiCang Yang suddenly felt a skeletal palm, hard as jade, lightly rest on his shoulder within zero point zero zero zero several milliseconds as countless indescribable energies surged into his body instantaneously.
{I wish to sign a temporary domination agreement with you.}
[Xingmiao wishes to sign a temporary domination agreement with me.]
{Hero from a foreign land, please accept.}
[I have accepted the agreement, duration 100S.]
ZiCang Yang subconsciously raised his arm, pointing into the distance like Zuo Feixian had done earlier.
This straight, upright arm remained steady, unshaken even by the train tumbling violently through the air.
No matter how it rolled, his finger locked firmly onto the figure in the distance.
[I have obtained Xingmiao’s Star Element proxy rights.]
[I have obtained Xingmiao’s Void Zero Chronos follow-up Investment.]
[I have obtained Xingmiao’s Position Temporarily Transferred Right.]
[I have sensed the liberation of the bloodline.]
[I have obtained the temporary borrowing right of Canjing Bloodline.]
In the psychic exchange, all of this was completed in an instant.
[Additional positions displayed, millions of positions, successful position suppression.]
[Deploy.]
Whoosh~
The red-flame rock spike shot at high speed as it curved slightly and crashed into the ground.
[Position displayed, single units.]
[Additional digit suppression, approximately one trillion. Digit suppression successful.]
BOOM!
The earth trembled, and a massive chasm split open as if the mountains had cracked and the ground had shattered, with countless debris flashing and hurtling toward the sky.
In the distance, the swiftly retreating rug suddenly swerved and actually turned around.
Whoosh— From the dark zenith afar, countless ripples of dark gold radiated outward, spreading endlessly. It was as if someone had cast a stone into the sky, stirring golden ripples atop the dark clouds, sprawling across heavens stretching for tens of thousands of miles.
Amid such overwhelming majesty, a female voice came through, crisp and icy as frost.
{You have already broken one of my fingers, Star Vast. Do you truly intend to see this through?!}
On the earth below, everyone looked up—they all heard this psychic voice, like that of a deity.
Beside the rug crashing toward the train, Mountain Strength gritted his teeth, Leaped down from the stall, and slammed heavily into the ground with a resounding boom.
The rug fluttered messily, striking the tumbling, falling train like a massive cloth tossed by a violent gale.
Its remaining levitation capability briefly slowed the train’s overall descent.
The shimmering light in the sky flickered and dissipated.
–That voice… is she the Chief Editor?–
Yang Zicang struggled to suppress his emotions; the near-palpable oppressive force had been bearing down on him all this while.
{Indeed it is.}
The voice emanating from the divine stone echoed through the carriage.
{Consider this flying carpet my thanks to you. After all, from now on, this train may likely be beyond the reach of the living.}
The broken skeletal body of jade and stone turned around, raising its lone left arm; in an instant, a flying carpet materialized within the carriage, automatically wrapping itself layer by layer around it.
Radiant lights of red, white, and dark gold transformed into magical runes, flashing by in a blur, before the enormous carpet fell, gauze-like and weightless, onto the floor of the carriage.
–So this is, what it takes to break that guy’s hold over the treasure?–
Zuo Feixian was deeply shaken—in his understanding, once a modder of this kind was under control, unless one voluntarily spent Chronos to break the connection, only the death of its owner could cause it to change hands.
Was this truly the caliber of such a formidable being? He could not even determine what polygon Moxel the entity was—could it be the legendary penta-, or even a hexagon?
The skeletal, tattered figure retrieved the gauzy veil, speaking softly:
{This belonged to my master once; it was his cape. That is why I can unbind it.}
Yang Zicang merely glanced at it. Now was not the moment to discuss such matters.
–Matt Chao, are you still good to go?–
He had already consumed one coin to replenish the train with a Chronos infusions.
{I’ve been shortened. I’m very weak.}
–Hang in there. While I still have time, let’s go back and retrieve that divine stone. We might even obtain other fragments of it.–
–…Ah…–
At this moment, the train felt a mysterious aura within its body. Though critically wounded, it had also experienced power of a higher echelon, a benefit not to be taken lightly.
Whether it could carry passengers or not was never a point of consideration for it.
Without a word, the train turned around and shuttled back toward the Peng Zone it had previously fled from.
With that carcass now inside its body, it materialized at high speed to the rear of the fleet that had already begun its retreat.
Ripples shimmered across the sky once more. This time, the female voice offered no words, but countless energy ripples surged eastward like an ocean tide. At the horizon there, a faint glimmer of light arose.
–Bad.–
Boom… Crash…
The train instantly materialized into solid form and crashed into the wilderness, striking the ground with the force of a derailment. It stirred up a long trail of dust and blasted across the earth, carving a path nearly a hundred meters long while issuing a deafening roar.
Xingmiao, suspended within the carriage, immediately raised its arm, pointing at its own phantom head composed of rocky dust. A fragment of shattered bone now floated beside that cranial area.
With its gesture toward the temple region, the faint light that had just risen in the east dimmed back into darkness.
The world once again returned to midnight.
Figures scattered across the land erupted into uproar, one and all.
They could clearly tell that the divine, feminine voice that had just spread across the entire Shibin Wastes was contending with another force, vying for control over the sky’s cycle of day and night.
–Singmiao must be the one who turned day into night!–
The querying ripples that swept across the heavens had already engraved the name Singmiao deep into the hearts of every living being on earth.
Now, everyone was talking about who this so-called Singmiao was, and how Cargo Crew, the big client, had managed to find such an unfathomably powerful existence—one that had drawn out such a terrifying opponent.
–Does Cargo Crew, that big shot, know who Singmiao is?–
–No doubt! That son of a bitch must be working for Singmiao!–
–Heavens, this is a battle between gods!–
Among those still scrambling for the divine stones, at least half immediately fled stealthily.
When power remained within the scope of one’s understanding—even if it was something new—they could still try to engage with it. But when it was clearly on a scale as vast as the gap between heaven and earth, such a struggle became laughable.
Many who had been trying to collect the divine stones gave up outright, some even casting them into the wilderness, terrified of having even the slightest connection to these two mysterious, unseen deities.
A luxurious convoy raced across the wilderness, its speed far inferior to that of a train or flying carpet.
But each time the phantom train was about to catch up, a dawn-like morning light surged from the horizon. As if a gap had been lifted in the veil of darkness, the high-speed train immediately tumbled into the wilderness.
–No good, we can never catch up—the agreement time is almost up.–
Xingmian sighed softly:
{Go yourself!}
A swirl of fine gauze on the ground rolled up, bounding autonomously toward Yang Zicang ahead.
It wrapped around the youth, crashing through the phantom and out of the train, then with a whoosh spun open into a floral blanket as vast as the area of a house.
After the giant blanket caught the falling Yang Zicang, it surged swiftly toward the convoy on the horizon ahead.
Ripples in the sky spread and flickered once more.
At the center of the high heavens’ ripples—the very heart of the spreading, milky-white undulations—rings of darkness and gold oscillated into view, like multiple halos radiating outward.
A hazy white figure, its form taut with elegant curves, descended slowly from the middle of those rings of light.
She raised an arm and pointed:
{Go back.}
An unassailable surge of sound whipped up a tempest in the spiritual world.
Yang Zicang looked around in alarm.
The land instantly turned into a ghostly realm, with countless sandstorms swirling in the sky, revealing broken phantoms of humans and cities. Thousands of fragmented beings screeched and floated, surrounding in a siege.
As Starwoo seemed to appear by his side, Yang ZiCang, who nearly fell into the mirage, shook his head awake—it was just an illusion.
Boom! The shockwave rolled and tore through the anomalies within hundreds of meters.
{First, I have to destroy that pen before me.}
On the distant vehicle, Secretary Hu, having heard this devil-like inner voice, clamped her lips shut and turned to gaze at the drifting black speck in the distant sky.
The blanket drifting in the sky was no longer swaying in place but rapidly closing in.
She turned her head and said to the driver, –Hurry, faster.–
–Secretary Hu, if we are being watched, we cannot break through the Wall of Ether and enter the Sub-Ether Field.–
–Then forget the car like Shunra… stop quickly, I have to get out!–
A suffocating sense of pressure closed in.
The driver’s expression shifted: –No, there are so many spiritual remains in the car—we absolutely cannot let it fall into their hands, or else Chief Editor…–
The blanket drew closer and closer.
–To hell with it!–
A flash of panic crossed Secretary Hu’s face.
The girl’s gaze shifted from the flying carpet to the few cars behind them.
–Split up and run!–
Biting her small canine teeth, she raised the secret treasure cube in her hand, aiming it at the sky.
Rumble!
Before a glint burst from her eyes, a devastating wave surged in, engulfing the convoy in an explosion, with numerous divine stones wrapped in golden chains scattering across the ground.
The cube flashed, annihilating the incoming energy, as the girl coughed up a mouthful of blood.
The brownish-yellow, dim wilderness erupted with deafening roars and a rolling explosion of smoke and dust.
A heavy black sedan with flickering lights veered crookedly out of the smoke and dust, speeding forward, while the remaining vehicles were completely destroyed.
The flying carpet plummeted toward the ground, but just before it hit, it suddenly slowed and gently touched down.
The agreement time was over.
Yang Zicang felt the powerful force within him drain away, leaving his body hollow, and he nearly collapsed. Struggling to stay upright, he activated Lucid Sense, greedily drawing a certain energy from the void to repair his form. After taking two deep breaths, he managed to open his eyes and look at the divine stones wrapped in chains scattered around.
Two small orbs of light flew down.
{Badass Yang is formidable.}
{True to a big shot with double full marks!}
Yang Zicang looked toward the sky. The ripples had vanished. What he had just seen might be a manifested thought entity from reality, or perhaps a mental attack aimed directly at him. If it were the former, it could be one of the Editor-in-Chief’s several pens.
Regardless, the illusion had already been neutralized by the power of Xingmiao.
He stepped out from beneath the large blanket.
Every car here lay wrecked, reduced to useless scraps, yet the Divine Stones had sustained little to no damage.
–One, two, three… four… five. They already gathered five Divine Stones! Phew~–
Thanks to the chain wrappings, he identified these stones with little effort and gathered them all together.
Yang Zicang felt a wave of relief wash over him; this alone had saved him a great deal of time.
Only then did the approaching train from behind –stumble and careen– to a halt, scraping gouges into the ground.
Several spheres of light hovered in midair, watching the scene below.
Inside Hubville’s screen wall.
Over half of the monitors were broadcasting live footage of this ghost train carving long marks across the ground—like a news report on some violent accident.
